What is Plastic Free Noosa

Plastic Free Noosa is a program which helps to protect the rich biodiverse environment by empowering the Noosa community to eliminate single-use plastics through direct engagement, recognition and the facilitation of circular economies.

We work directly with businesses, residents, youth, and visitors to Noosa to eliminate single-use plastics from circulation by supporting the switch to more sustainable alternatives, such as reusable (preferred) or 100% compostable items.

We also work closely with Noosa Council, local traders groups, suppliers, manufacturers, waste transport operators and local composting facilities to deliver real and practical solutions.

Since February 2018, the Plastic Free Noosa program and the membership of over 180 local businesses have eliminated more than 11,807,202 single-use plastic items from circulation across the Noosa Biosphere Reserve.
