Events are often one of the biggest creators of single-use plastic waste, and Plastic Free Noosa has been working with a number of events in the community to combat the use of plastic. Sustainability is a key focus for Noosa events that are supported by Tourism Noosa, as we all need to do something now to make a significant change to our future.
Not only will your event benefit from a more sustainable use of resources and reduce waste and litter, you can potentially save money by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill and post-event clean-up costs. Additionally, your plastic free event or market recognises the growing community support and expectation for sustainable actions.

Events Guide
A brand new Sustainable Events Guide (to be used in conjunction with the Sustainable Events Criteria) will soon be available to all Noosa event organisers that covers overall operations of running events to combine resources and maximise bulk buying
Support and Induction Session
Our Program Manager will assist event organisers prior and post events to run through the new format of the Sustainability Criteria and create an action plan with you.
Resources
We give you access to online and physical Plastic Free Resources, including downloadable signage, template documents, checklists, waste station signage, and bin covers you can borrow to save $$$.
Promotion
Your business will be promoted via social media, on our website, and via other media channels through industry partner Tourism Noosa. You will also receive certification as a Plastic Free Champion (issued post-event, if you complete all necessary program actions).
We have worked with many events, including the Noosa Eat & Drink Festival, Noosa Triathlon, Noosa Festival of Surfing and Eumundi Markets to go plastic free, with great success!
The first step is to make a time for us to come in for a free consultation. In order to become a member, we ask that you assign a core member of your team to be responsible for implementing the program (e.g. a sustainability officer, green team leader etc).This person must be present at the induction session.
